UCAS Media Newsletter

September 2010

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the September edition of the UCAS Media Education Newsletter.

Application Tracker and Decision Tracker 2011 will go live on 29 September 2010

Great news this year as level 1 of Application Tracker is free to all UCAS member intuitions. As a result of this change we have also decided to reduce the price of Application Tracker by £500 at both levels 2 and 3.

This year Decision Tracker will also be launched in September, meaning you get an extra 3 monthsworth of data for no extra cost. This product runs alongside Application Tracker and is the ultimate tool for in-depth analysis of progress and conversions. It enables you to compare your current performance to previous application cycles, your competitors' and your own benchmarks, all essential parts of performance analysis and planning. In line with the launch date change we have decided to give a further 5% discount to any institution that buys Application Tracker and Decision Tracker at the same time.

If you are interested in subscribing to either Application Tracker or Decision Tracker or both please contact Chris Harris at c.harris@ucas.ac.uk.

Discover why international applicants accept or decline your offer

Earlier this year UCAS and i-graduate teamed up to develop and administer the International Decliners Study 2010, which has so far gathered responses from over 8,000 EU and non-EU international applicants regarding their views and perceptions at the decision making stage of the application process. International applicants indicate what factors made them accept or decline a particular course or university, and which other institutions they applied to - making it an extremely useful benchmarking tool.

Reporting is available for individual institutions, providing you with a relevant and accurate assessment of your positioning in different markets. Each UK institutions' report package will include the following key information.

  • Understanding what influenced your students when deciding where to study - why did they choose to accept or decline your offer?
  • Which other countries and universities (UK and international) did your students consider, and where did your decliners go?
  • Open comments about why international students accepted and declined your offer.
  • A complete breakdown of sources of information international students use during their decision-making process and which sources influenced their decision.
  • The reasons international students chose the UK as a study destination.

If you are interested in benchmarking your international decliners against your competitors and understanding the key drivers of international student decision making then please contact Naomi Kenny at Naomi.Kenny@i-graduate.org or Chris Harris at c.harris@ucas.ac.uk
