Dear Colleagues,
In this edition of the UCAS Media newsletter we focus on clearing activity. Although applications have increased and you may not be advertising clearing vacancies this year, you may be interested in the options below should you find you need to recruit for one or two places.
Those of you who have been granted funding for more STEM applicants, may like to consider using our Extra Unplaced Email service. This service closes on 6 July but will re- open as Clearing Unplaced from 23 August onwards. See below for further details.
Clearing Monthly Mailing
Each month during term time we send a pack of information directly to our named contact at UK schools and colleges, this service is also available during Clearing week. This pack of information is placed in the postal system to arrive with our UCAS contact during w/c 16th August. We send an email alert the week before advising our contacts to look out for this pack and within the covering letter we include all the essential UCAS information for Clearing 2010.
This would be a perfect opportunity for you to include your Clearing Hotline posters or information about your clearing vacancies. Prices start from 21p per address. The booking deadline for this opportunity is 1st July and the items for inclusion need to be with us by 12th July.

Unplaced Email Opportunity
From 23rd August onwards it is possible to email applicants who either did not meet the conditions of their offer or who released themselves into clearing. You can send an email to a highly targeted group to alert them to the fact you may have one or two spaces available on your course. The email sends are limited to 8 slots a day and is based on a first come, first served basis. We are able to run retrospective counts based on last year's numbers to help inform you of what might be available this year. Online Advertising with UCAS during Clearing 2010
From the 19th August the UCAS website is split into two sites, the normal site and one specific to Clearing. There are a number of advertising opportunities available over this period. The main areas include Homepage, Vacancy Search and Track log out. Please contact the UCAS Media Education Team on 01242 544881 for more information.
Extra Unplaced Email
If you currently have vacancies for 2010 entry and would like to fill these ahead of Clearing you may like to consider using our Extra Unplaced Email service to current unplaced applicants in the UCAS system . This database can be segmented by postcode and subject code. Please contact UCAS Media Education Team for a bespoke count. The service closes on 6 July 2010. Clearing Specific Parent Newsletter - New!
In week commencing 2 August we will be sending a clearing focused e-newsletter to over 8000 parents who registered on ucas.com. There is opportunity within the newsletter to include up to three advert features and links. Please contact UCAS Media. or 01242 544881 for further details.
