The Team

UCAS Media’s aim is to provide the best communication channels to students and their influencers; delivering effective and efficient services to our clients in the higher education, commercial and not-for-profit sectors.

At UCAS Media, we have eight teams responsible for the management of events; the distribution of publications; the development of special projects; income generation via the education and commercial sectors; the delivery of contracts and the development and provision of accurate and effective data products and services for member institutions, government and other agencies.

Commercial Sales

The Commercial Account Management team continually seeks to generate new business and grow existing business from the commercial sectors, offering effective products and services to reach those students who have applied to, or are currently at, university or college.

High profile companies from the telecommunication, insurance, banking and travel sectors with services explicitly targeted at the student market, use UCAS Media’s direct marketing channels including mailings and email campaigns (core and segmented) and online advertising sales to reach this audience.

Education Sales

The Education Account Management team works with education based sector clients, ranging from universities and colleges to the National Blood Service, to enable them to reach students aged between 16 to 18 years of age.

Utilising the strong account management culture within with the Education team, it is their responsibility to clients to offer solution-based services, with primary responsibility for such marketing opportunities as Pre-Applicant Data, advertising and sponsorship, mobularisation of prospectuses and, in co-ordination with the Data Insight Team, the delivery of data-based solutions.

Events

A team of highly-experienced event management professionals, UCAS Media Events specialise in organising and producing higher education events.

Managing a network of higher education fairs and a programme of conferences across the UK on behalf of UCAS and other organisations within the higher education sector, including the Department for Education and Skills, UCAS Media’s extensive portfolio of events for students, advisers and institutions continues to go from strength to strength.

As a key player in the marketplace, these events offer a direct marketing channel to enable organisations to talk to students and their key influencers in schools, colleges and higher education.

Publication Services

Information and advice for students, their parents and advisers is paramount before, during and after entering higher education. The Publication Services team aims to provide this information with an increasing portfolio of over 70 highly regarded free and priced publications. These publications cover all aspects of entry into higher education, offering guidance and advice to students to assist their decisions about careers; which courses to study and where; entry requirements; the UCAS application process; student life; student finance and taking a year out.

Purchasers include establishments such as schools and colleges, higher education institutions, careers centres, library services, book retailers and distributors, and also individual students and parents, covering a range of issues including student finance, choosing the right course and career opportunities.

Data Insight

The Data Insight team is responsible for delivering data-based solutions for Higher Education clients to assist with their marketing initiatives. These solutions could be anything from course planning to applicant conversion; monitoring applications to understanding market share and are delivered in user-friendly outputs to meet client requirements.

The Data Insight team brings together a team with a range of specialist skills and experience gained in both a Higher Education and a commercial environment and works closely with other teams in UCAS Media and UCAS to ensure that their services complement and build on what is already available from UCAS.

Special Projects

The Special Projects Team delivers a range of initiatives for students, parents, advisers and staff with the aim of providing valuable information and support, whilst also offering key marketing opportunities for third-party organisations.

Two major initiatives are UCAS Card and the 'yougo' student website. The UCAS Card project provides help and support to year 12 students and their advisers throughout the application process and also enables third-party organisations with a channel to reach this audience group. The 'yougo' student website is a dedicated website for students from application to graduation, providing a unique point of view on student life, compelling commercial offers, advice, discussion, opportunities to publish and share thinking, ideas and work, and help for students to get on in their lives and careers.

Information Services

The UCAS Media Information Services team is one of this country’s leading specialists in the collection and supply of education course and institutional data. It also sells and markets its own education guidance product Course Discover.

Expert in the collection, management, manipulation and supply of high quality course-related information for external customers, Information Services works with a number of commercial and non-commercial clients on a regular basis, as well as undertaking individual projects for a diverse range of organisations. Clients can draw on the wealth of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Post-16, Further Education and Lifelong Learning course information the team maintains, or commission the collection of bespoke data. The data provided is typically used for research, and to underpin both publications and websites.

Amongst its clients, the team works with Hotcourses to provide course data to the National Learning Directory, a database that supplies the two national Learndirect Helplines and the Learndirect website family (www.learndirect.co.uk, www.hotcourses.com and www.educationuk.org) and over 70 regional portals.
